Man arrested for allegedly k!lling mother, burying her in shallow grave on Osun farm

A man, Taye Kasali, has been arrested by the Osun State Police Command for allegedly k!lling his mother, Kudirat Kasali, following a dispute over the family’s farmland.

The police also recovered the remains of the deceased from a shallow grave on the family farm after the suspect allegedly led investigators to the location.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the spokesperson for the Osun State Police Command, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Zungura.

According to the police, the case came to their attention on September 1 after Kudirat and her son were reported missing.

Following the report, operatives attached to the Bode-Osi Division launched an investigation into their disappearance.

The command said an intelligence-led investigation eventually led to Taye’s arrest on September 7 in connection with the alleged crime.

During interrogation, the suspect allegedly confessed to killing his mother on August 31, 2026.

The police said Taye claimed that his mother had repeatedly referred to him as a mad person and had threatened to lease out the family’s farmland, which he described as the household’s major source of livelihood.

According to the police, the suspect allegedly killed his mother by slitting her throat with a machete before burying her body in a shallow grave on the farm.

“Following the alleged confession, Taye led investigators to the location where the shallow grave was found and the remains of the deceased were recovered,” the statement said.

The machete allegedly used in the killing was also recovered by the police and kept as an exhibit as investigations continue.

CP Zungura directed that the suspect be thoroughly investigated and charged to court upon completion of the investigation.

The police commissioner also assured the public that justice would be served in accordance with the law.
