Speaking to singles, Blord said marriage should not be approached solely from a personal perspective, as the choice of a partner could also affect the wellbeing and upbringing of their children.
“My dear single brothers and sisters, if you want to marry just know that you are getting married for yourself and your kids; don’t be selfish,” he said.
Blord particularly advised men to look beyond physical attraction when choosing a wife, arguing that children should benefit from the qualities of the person they marry.
He said choosing a partner mainly because of beauty or physical attraction could have consequences for the children, while intelligence and good character should be given greater consideration.
“Your children are supposed to benefit from who you are marrying. You have to put your children first before you put yourself,” he added.
The businessman also noted that fathers may have limited time to build deep relationships with their children, particularly when it comes to their education.
“When you start having kids as a man, you won’t have time for deep relationships with them, especially in terms of their education,” he said.
Blord concluded by warning singles against prioritising physical appearance over character and intelligence when choosing a spouse.
“You must marry because of brain and not beauty,” he said.
