‘Nigeria is not truly practising democracy’ — Adekunle Gold speaks on Davido’s message to Trump

Nigerian music star Adekunle Gold has said Nigeria is not truly practising democracy, explaining that he believes this was why his colleague, Davido, appealed to United States President Donald Trump to pay attention to the recently held Osun State governorship election.

Adekunle Gold made the comment during a recent episode of the One54 Podcast, where he discussed Davido’s message to Trump and the state of democracy in Nigeria.

According to the ‘Orente’ crooner, Davido’s decision to seek Trump’s attention on the Osun election could be linked to concerns about the country’s democratic system and how elections are conducted.

“I think Davido sent that message to Donald Trump because we are not truly practising democracy in Nigeria. We are not doing what a democratic society should do,” he said.

Adekunle Gold further expressed hope that the administration of President Bola Tinubu would perform better than the previous government, particularly in the areas of good governance and respect for democratic values.

“I just hope this administration does better than the previous one,” he added.
