Yayi reveals plan to make late actor Ogogo cabinet member if elected Ogun governor

The APC governorship candidate for the 2027 Ogun State election, Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has revealed that he planned to appoint late veteran actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, as his Special Adviser on Culture and Tourism if elected governor.

Yayi, who is currently the senator representing Ogun West, disclosed this during a visit to Ogogo’s family at their country home in Ilaro on Tuesday.

In a video that has gone viral on social media, the politician said he had planned to make the late actor more than just a special adviser, promising him a position in his cabinet.

“I planned to make Ogogo my Special Adviser on Culture and Tourism. Not just as SA but as a full cabinet member if I won the election and become the governor of Ogun State.

“That was my plan. I kept it to myself and I was working with it, believing that God will do it,” Yayi said.

Ogogo died at the age of 66 on August 23, 2026, after battling cancer.

During the actor’s illness, Yayi was reportedly among his major financial supporters and contributed towards his medical expenses.
