A 16-year-old girl in Delta State has alleged that a friend lured her to a hotel in the Ughelli area, where she was sexually assaulted by two teenage boys.
The teenager recounted her ordeal in an interview with the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, following the arrest of one of the suspects, identified as Godstime.
According to the victim, her friend, identified simply as Nice Money, invited her to the hotel after assuring her that someone would provide transport fare for her.
She alleged that upon arriving at the hotel, she met Godstime and another boy, Goodluck, while Nice Money later left the premises.
The teenager claimed that an argument broke out after she told the boys she was menstruating, before one of them allegedly slapped her and ordered her to undress.
“As we were arguing, one of them slapped me and ordered me to undress, so I removed my clothes, and they raped me and later recorded me with their phones,” she alleged.
She further claimed that the suspects demanded additional sexual acts before agreeing to delete the video they had recorded.
The incident attracted public attention after a video surfaced on social media showing the suspects allegedly mocking the teenager for visiting them while she was menstruating.
Edafe confirmed that one of the suspects who allegedly recorded the footage had been arrested.
Godstime, while speaking after his arrest, admitted to sexually assaulting the girl and recording the incident, but disputed her account of how many times the assault occurred.
“I was the one speaking in the video, and we recorded it because we were angry when she told us she was on her period,” he said.
He claimed that he and Goodluck had sex with the teenager twice.
The Delta police spokesperson assured that the suspect would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
