Ojay shared the experience during a recent mother-and-son session with Pulse Nigeria, recalling how the reaction to his mother’s expected arrival at Quilox nightclub left him surprised.
He explained that he had returned to Nigeria from the United States for a holiday and decided to celebrate his birthday at the Lagos venue. However, he did not expect the level of attention his mother would attract.
“I came back home from the US for holiday and I celebrated my birthday at Quilox. I didn’t know that Omotara was that big,” he said.
According to Ojay, the club’s manager appeared to take charge of the situation as the venue became crowded with people waiting to see the actress.
“The manager was like the bouncer that day, shut down the club, everybody was standing there and when I asked him what’s going on they said don’t worry, it’s your mom, your mom did this,” he recounted.
He said the excitement grew as people anticipated Bukky Wright’s arrival, with many believing she was attending specifically to celebrate his birthday.
“Then the next thing I noticed that everybody was just frolicking, they wanted to see you because they thought you were coming for my birthday. You came for like thirty minutes,” he said.
Reflecting on the experience, Ojay admitted that he had previously seen his mother simply as a parent without fully appreciating her celebrity status.
“I was surprised, I thought you were just mom not knowing you’re big,” he added.
