Portable claims Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, Olamide have lost touch with reality

Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, popularly known as Portable, has criticised some of the country’s biggest music stars, claiming that wealth and fame have affected their creativity.

The Zazu hitmaker made the statement during a video broadcast, where he alleged that top artists including Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy and Olamide are no longer making music that inspires or connects with ordinary people.

Portable claimed that their level of success has made them focus more on women, luxury and lifestyle themes rather than creating songs with meaningful messages.

According to him, excessive comfort has affected the quality and message of their music.

“I noticed that Davido, Wizkid, Burna Boy and Olamide don’t praise God in their songs, they only sing about ladies. Is it because they already have money and they believe they can’t fall?” he said.

The singer further criticised what he described as a lack of motivation and valuable lessons in their songs.

“Their songs have no motivation. No sensible lyrics. Just women and vanity,” he added.

Portable advised his colleagues to return to making conscious and inspirational music, saying wealth should not stop artists from creating songs that impact society.

“Make conscious music. We are tired of all those songs about frivolities. I am also a musician. You all should do better,” he stated.
