Chiwetalu Agu explains why men, women may face different consequences for same behaviour

Veteran Nollywood actor Chiwetalu Agu has spoken about the different social consequences men and women may face for similar behaviour, urging people to consider the possible outcomes of their actions before making decisions.

In a message shared with his followers, the actor argued that men and women may not always experience the same consequences for similar sexual behaviour.

Agu noted that a man who has had sexual relationships with several women may still find a partner willing to settle down with him, while a woman with fewer past partners could face rejection because of her sexual history.

He also argued that social and financial circumstances can determine how differently people cope with the consequences of the same actions.

Using drug use as an example, the actor said two people involved in the same behaviour could have different outcomes depending on the resources available to them when things go wrong.

Agu therefore urged people to think beyond the present and consider how severely they could be affected if their decisions resulted in negative consequences.

“Don’t assume that because someone is doing something with you, you will both suffer the consequences equally,” he said.

He added, “Wisdom is not knowing what you can do. It is knowing what you cannot afford to do.”
