‘Adam’s sin was touching his tithe, not eating an apple’ – Pastor Ibiyeomie

Popular Nigerian pastor David Ibiyeomie has claimed that Adam’s sin in the Garden of Eden was not eating an apple or committing adultery, but touching what he described as the tithe that belonged to God.

The founder of Salvation Ministries made the claim while preaching, arguing that God had instructed Adam not to touch something that He had reserved for Himself.

According to Ibiyeomie, the instruction given to Adam established a distinction between what belonged to him and what belonged to God.

“Did he commit adultery? He did not eat apple. Adam touched the tithe. The tithe was the only thing God told him not to touch. He said, ‘This one is yours, but this is mine. Don’t touch it,’” the pastor said.

He further likened Adam’s alleged disobedience to Christians who fail to pay their tithes, describing such actions as dishonesty and the misuse of what God has instructed them to set aside.

“Every time you touch your tithe, you are living in dishonesty. You are tampering with that which God has told you not to touch,” he added.

Ibiyeomie’s interpretation presents the biblical account of Adam’s disobedience as a lesson on tithing and respecting what believers consider to belong to God.
