Court grants Doris Ogala ₦30m bail over cyberstalking allegations involving Pastor Chris Okafor

The Federal High Court in Lagos has granted Nollywood actress and African Action Congress (AAC) governorship candidate for the 2027 Abia State election, Doris Ogala, bail in the sum of ₦30 million over allegations of cyberstalking and other offences involving Pastor Chris Okafor.

Justice Akintayo Aluko granted the bail on Friday, November 6, 2026, with two sureties required to provide the same amount.

The court also ordered Ogala to surrender her international passport to the registrar and restrained her from making online posts capable of exposing prosecution witnesses to harassment, threats or intimidation while the trial is ongoing.

Justice Aluko explained that the bail conditions were designed to balance Ogala's constitutional right to freedom with the need to protect witnesses and ensure her attendance at trial.

The judge also expressed concern over the actress's conduct during proceedings on October 28, 2026, when she allegedly caused a commotion in the courtroom, forcing the court to adjourn 10 cases.

According to the judge, her conduct raised concerns about her ability to cause disturbances outside the courtroom.

He said, “By her misconduct and conduct in the open court, when she disrupted proceedings and caused a series of adjournments without any justification on the 28th of October, 2026, the defendant has exposed herself as a person capable of fomenting trouble when she is outside the courtroom.”
