Nollywood actor Charles Born has expressed shock and embarrassment after he was allegedly asked to change seats during a church service in Abuja because of his outfit.
The actor recounted his experience at Celebration Church Abuja, where he attended the second service on Sunday, explaining that he was asked to move from his preferred aisle seat shortly after the opening prayer.
According to him, a man approached him and suggested that he move to another row, before mentioning that there were concerns about how he was dressed.
Born said he was confused by the request because he believed his outfit, which consisted of sandals, trousers and a vest, was appropriate for the service. He added that he preferred sitting at the edge of a row to have enough room to move freely during praise and worship.
The actor said he eventually decided to leave the service after the exchange, despite being told that the church did not want him to leave.
In a video shared online, Born described the incident as one of the most embarrassing experiences he had encountered while attending church.
He questioned why his dressing had become an issue, insisting that he was not improperly exposed and expressing disappointment that such an experience could happen in a place of worship.
Born also argued that churches should welcome everyone, regardless of their appearance or background, rather than make people feel unwelcome because of their clothing.
He said the experience was particularly troubling because some people already hesitate to attend church, and incidents of this nature could further discourage them from seeking a place of worship.
