Nigerian singer Spyro has criticised the poor electricity supply in the country after recounting his experience during a visit to the Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKDC) office.
The singer, who said he visited the office out of frustration over paying for Band A electricity without receiving power, disclosed that he was moved by compassion after seeing workers fanning themselves due to the lack of electricity.
In a post shared online, Spyro revealed that a female staff member who attended to him complained that her neighbours often mocked her for working with the electricity distribution company despite having no electricity at home.
He expressed disappointment that Nigerians continued to act as though everything was working properly despite the persistent power challenges.
He wrote, “I went to EKDC office out of frustration to find out why I pay for Band A and yet zero electricity, and on getting there, I got moved by compassion as the workers were literally fanning themselves, no electricity.
“The lady that attended to me said, ‘My neighbours shame me for working here yet I have no light.’
“And yet some FOOLS still seem to think everything is okay in this country.”
